Cold Night Shelter
SPBTS participates with three other churches at the beach in a rotating shelter for the homeless. The shelter opens when temperatures and wind chills are in the 30s. Volunteers make chili for this ministry, monitor the shelter, serve supper and a light breakfast and make bag lunches. Soup Kitchen at Mission House Volunteers prepare and serve supper to the homeless on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Meals on Wheels Noontime meals are delivered to homebound indivituals for one week at intervals of six weeks. Adopt-A-Family SPBTS families purchase Christmas gifts for needy families. Beaches Habitat for Humanity Volunteers participate in the construction of homes for low-income families. Volunteers also prepare and serve lunches to college students who spend their spring break building homes. Beaches Fine Arts Series (BFAS) An Annual series of outstanding free musical events are held at SPBTS. Reconcile Jacksonville Beaches Activities are planned in conjunction with St. Andrews AME Church, a predominately African-American church, to promote communication, understanding, and fellowship. Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry (BEAM) The parish collects canned goods on a regular basis to assist persons in need. Holiday food baskets are also collected and distributed. In august, a shoe and clothing drive is held for students. Volunteers work to distribute the items. Beaches Episcopal School (BES) Beaches Episcopal School is a mission school of SPBTS. |
